% Change (Number 1 to Number 2)
This mode will calculate:
- Percent increase – This mode can also be used to calculate gross sales markup Ex: Increase from 10 to 15
- Percent decrease – This mode can also be used to calculate gross margin Ex: Decrease from 15 to 10
- Percent difference Ex: Percent difference between 10 and 15
- Number 1 as a percentage of Number 2 Ex: 10 as a percentage of 20
- Number 2 as a percentage of Number 1 Ex: 20 as a percentage of 10
(new – original) / original = answer
(15 – 10) / 10 = 5 / 10 = 0.50 = 50%
(new – original) / original = answer
(10 – 15) / 15 = – 5 / 15 = -0.33 = 33% decrease (decrease takes place of negative sign)
|(number1 – number2)| / average = answer
(15 – 10) / (15+10)/2 = 5 / 12.5 = 0.40 = 40%
number1 / number2 = answer
10 / 20 = 10 / 20 = 0.50 = 50%
number2 / number1 = answer
20 / 10 = 2.0 = 200%
% Of (Percent of number)
This mode will calculate:
- Percent of X Ex: 10 percent of 15
- X plus percent – This mode can also be used to calculate markup on a product Ex: 15 plus 10 percent
- X minus percent – This mode can also be used to calculate markdown on a product Ex: 15 plus 10 percent
- X as a percent of an original number Ex: 15 is 10% of what number
- X as a percent increase of an original number Ex: 15 is a 10 percent increase from what number
- X as a percent decrease of an original number Ex: 15 is a 10 percent decrease from what number
number * (percentage/100) = answer
(10/100) * 15 = 1.5
number * (1 + (percentage / 100)) = answer
15 * (1+(10/100)) = 16.5
number * (1 – (percentage / 100)) = answer
15 * (1-(10/100)) = 13.5
number / (percentage / 100) = answer
15 / (10/100) = 150
number / ((percentage / 100.0) + 1.0) = answer
15 * (1-10/100) = 13.5
number / (1.0 – (percentage / 100.0)) = answer
15 * (1-10/100) = 13.5
